Congratulations! You have reached one of the more important moments in your life! We join with your family and friends in celebrating your decision to be married. Weddings held at FUMC Heath are performed primarily as a ministry since a wedding is a service of worship. All weddings are conducted under the leadership of our Pastor as a United Methodist ceremony. If you wish to involve another United Methodist Pastor, their Pastor may contact our Pastor directly to discuss the request. First, please make an appointment with our Pastor to discuss the important details of your plans. Our church administrative assistant can assist with appointments and answer your preliminary questions.
WEDDING DAY DETAILS: Weddings are scheduled based on our church Calander of regularly scheduled events. Access to and scheduling will depend on our schedule and where best to accommodate your plans. Our office hours are 9 AM to 3PM Monday through Thursday. The facility is occupied from 8:30 AM until 3PM on Fridays. Opening the church at other times can be arranged based on availability of personnel. A dressing room for the bride is available adjacent to the Sanctuary. Please be aware, the Church is not responsible for any personal belongings including valuables, gifts, clothing, and any other items left in the church. We will do our best to ensure all is secure!
FEES: Weddings are conducted in the Sanctuary which seats 200 comfortably. The price includes all premarital counseling with the Pastor, pianist, wedding coordinator and custodian. Initial deposit: $1000.00, due at the time of scheduling, And other fees are due two weeks prior to the ceremony. Any unplanned costs incurred during the event will be billed within seven days with payment due in thirty days. Confetti and rice are not permitted. Bubbles and bird seed are allowed outside only. Use of any loose decorations within the church must get prior approval from the wedding coordinator.
WEDDING MUSIC: Our church pianist is available to play for your ceremony or you may choose to use your own pianist or soloist. Musical selections should be both beautiful and special to you personally as well as uplifting for the congregation gathered to witness your vows. A wedding is a worship service so the music selected should be appropriate as such and celebrate God’s role in your lives and in your marriage. Our pianist will be able to assist you in these choices and make all final decisions. Secular music is permitted with prior approval.
DECORATIONS: Floral arrangements may be placed on the provided tables. Altar candles and candelabras are provided. Tape, tacks, pins, glue or masking tape may not be used, and decorations must not obstruct worship symbols. Any questions you may have about decorations may be discussed with the wedding coordinator ahead of time.
PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: All pre-ceremony pictures must end one half hour prior to the wedding. Any photography must be performed from the side aisles or the back of the Sanctuary during the ceremony. If you wish, the Church can provide for a stationary video of the ceremony and/or Live Feed of the service.
REHEARSAL: Rehearsals are generally held the afternoon or evening before the wedding. This gives you and your wedding party a chance to become familiar with the church and flow of the service. To assure that everyone in your wedding party feels confident and comfortable on your special day, everyone with a major role in your ceremony is asked to attend the rehearsal and to be on time. This should include the bride, groom, all parents, bride’s attendants, groom’s attendants, ushers, ring bearer and flower girl. As the rehearsal is being held in a place of reverence, we ask that everyone in attendance act accordingly.
RECEPTION: Reception arrangements can be made through our Wedding Coordinator. *Fletcher Hall can be rented for a fee of $500. You must arrange for your own catering. It should be noted that alcohol is not permitted in our worship facility or anywhere on church property
